After winning both MX2 motos at the final round of the 2010 FIM World Motocross Championships in Fermo, Italy, Ken Roczen talks to redbull.com about the season just gone, his expectations for the next campaign and what he would do with €10,000...
Hi Ken, what has been your best moment of the season?
My best moment of the season must be Fermo, the last GP. Two wins – what more do you want?
What was the worst moment of the season?
The worst moment was probably, first when I crashed in Portugal when someone jumped into me and of course the couple of times my bike broke.
'Steve Ramon is a good friend of mine he’s older than me and can pass on a lot of experience'
What are your plans now the season has finished?
After the season’s over, I want to do Supercross but I don’t know yet [if I can]. My bike will change next year, so we have to do some testing.
So, no holiday for you?
Of course, we’ll do some testing first and after that, for sure, we’ll go on holiday for a few weeks and have a rest.
Will you go abroad, or will you just stay at home and relax with friends?
Of course with friends but usually every winter I go snowboarding, I’ve snowboarded since I was eight. I also go out with my friends all the time.
If you were a fan in the stands, who would you be cheering for?
Of course I respect Marvin [Musquin] a lot. Actually, everyone deserves respect but he is the one I would cheer for. In MX1 it would be Tony Cairoli and Steve Ramon. Steve is a good friend of mine he’s older than me and can pass on a lot of experience.
Motocross is a very dirty sport, do you have to take extra long showers after races?
It depends on the situation, sometimes I just jump in the shower really quick but after a good weekend it has to be a long one!
How else do you relax after riding?
Normally, I stop thinking about how good it was and just go back to normal life – think about my friends or what I’m doing tomorrow or something. Maybe listen to music.

What about during the race weekend?
It depends, normally I drink a cold Red Bull with my friend Costa everyday to have 10 minutes relaxing time.
What is on your iPod at the moment?
At the moment I’m listening to a bit of everything. I like house music, minimal, and punk rock – most things really.
Who are your favourite artists at the moment?
I’m listening to a lot of Soulja Boy at the moment but I don’t really have one artist that I listen to all the time.
Do you search for the music yourself on the internet or do you have a friend who recommends stuff?
No, usually I look on my own, although if a friend has something new we often share.
If you went to an ATM and it gave you €10,000 instead of €10 would you give it back or would you keep it?
I would probably keep it because normally if you lose something, no one gives it back. So, you probably should give it back and I would think hard about it but I’d probably keep it.
What if there was a camera?
It doesn’t matter, it could be that I want €10,000 or I could pretend not to have noticed...
Where will you be in five years’ time?
In five years I hope I have my first GP, maybe more
And in 10 years...
In 10 years, hopefully I’ll have enough money to relax and do funny stuff. I would enjoy everything, taking time for more parties and maybe a nice house and two or three trucks just for fun.
Looking ahead to the Motocross of Nations, what are your expectations?
Last year we finished fourth, so I’m preparing well and hopefully we can get on the podium this time. We actually have a good team and I think we can do well.
