This is a big weekend for Red Bull Racing's Sebastian Vettel as he gets ready to race in front of his home fans in the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim. Happily, the young pilot is all smiles – as we discover from his blog...

'We finally made it to Hockenheim! After our performance at Silverstone, I have a really good feeling about this weekend’s race.

Of course, I had some problems at the start of the British Grand Prix but we did the best that we could. We gave everything we had and that's the reason why I felt good after the race was over.

Last Sunday I was given permission to race through my hometown Heppenheim and that was a big deal for me. I was just amazed by the thousands of people who came, it gave me a huge lift and that good mood has carried over to this weekend.

I can’t wait to see how the fans will be dressed in the next few days. For the last few years, red has been the dominant colour among fans at the German Grand Prix.

I'm pretty sure that there will be other colours this time, but I hope I’ll see a lot blue.

The weather wasn't that great today but I'm optimistic that the sun will shine on Sunday. I just hope that a lot of people will be at the circuit and that this race will be really special.

For now, I just can't wait to drive my first laps on the track.'

Keep up with Sebastian at the German Grand Prix this weekend.
