Red Bull Salzburg and Manchester City have experienced differing Europa League fortunes since last prepared a pre-match preamble. Now they face one another again in the reverse fixture...

Goals from the silky David Silva and the rather less vaunted Jo gave the monied Mancs of the English Premier League a 2-0 win at the Red Bull Arena midway through September and, while Huub Stevens' side were competitive in their three subsequent matches, a two-point haul with just one goal scored shows where the team have to improve.

Nothing less than a win at the City of Manchester Stadium will sustain their interest in the competition, although successive draws against former Italian champions Juventus suggests Salzburg are capable of frustrating top continental opposition.

In fact, the Red Bulls look to have decided the outcome of Group A, one way or another...

With Juve rueing those dropped points, City and surprise group leaders Lech Poznan have been the ones to profit and both look well placed to progress to the tournament's last 32. Salzburg face both teams in their final two group games, with their final fixture the visit of Polish champions Poznan on December 16.

The top two teams advance to the next round of the competition where they will be joined by eight teams from the Champions League group stage.
