After a two-year wait, Martin Tomczyk has celebrated a DTM victory again.

The German celebrated victory at the Nürburgring, ahead of his Audi team-mates Timo Scheider and Mattias Ekström. It was the fourth win of his career and his second at the Nürburgring since 2007. Markus Winkelhock completed a great showing from Audi with fourth place. The best Mercedes driver was Jamie Green in fifth place.

Gary Paffett (Mercedes-Benz) lost his lead in the series after a technical problem in qualifying. He showed strong race pace, however, and made up eight places to finish in eighth. Scheider is now the new leader in the championship with 35pts, one point ahead of Ekström.  Paffett is third on 29 pts.

“The car was fantastic," said Tomczyk. "There wasn't a single problem during the whole weekend. And it was a very comforting race because I had two Audis behind me. I am back!”

The DTM series continues on September 5 at Brands Hatch in the UK.
