Taddy Blazusiak is about to get down to business with the 2012 AMA Endurocross season just a few weeks away. The defending champion checks in ahead of the season opener in Las Vegas.
The training is now hectic with the season starting in just a few weeks. I had a short break over Easter when I went back home to Poland. I’m planning something special with Red Bull Poland but I can’t give away too many details right now, let’s just say it involves a bike.
I also got the chance to visit Krakow and see my family and friends there. I hadn’t seen the folks back home for a couple of months so it was fun to catch up with everybody. I ate some of the traditional food that I miss when I’m away and it was nice to chill out in my family home.
'Now I’m back at my base in Spain I’ve been training like crazy'
I don’t really come from a racing family so I enjoy being back in an environment where the focus is not totally on my competitions. Of course they follow all my races and support me but it’s good that there’s not lots of different opinions and advice about my sport when I go home. They are all happy for me to make my own decisions when it comes to racing. I don’t really talk much about racing when I’m back home. This helps me to real focus on having a relaxing time for the few days I get away from training and competing.
Now I’m back at my base in Spain I’ve been training like crazy. I’m either on the track, in the gym or out on my bicycle. There’s no time spent doing anything else because things are so flat out at the moment. I’m feeling strong now and I’m getting stronger all the time so I’m happy about that.
I’m looking forward to defending my title during this new Endurocross season and checking out how the sport continues to grow. Every year there’s more people coming out to watch the races. Even the motorcycle industry is gearing itself more towards the sport. All this does add a little more pressure but I’ve been around for a while now so I can cope. I know that I’m faster than I was last year and I know that I’ve done everything I can to be the best rider I can be.
