American Todd Potter and Frenchman Jeremy Rouanet crashed in training ahead of Friday's Red Bull X-Fighters event in Madrid and will miss the fourth stop of the 2012 World Tour due to injuries suffered.
Red Bull X-Fighters championship leader Todd Potter of the United States crashed in training on Friday just hours before the event and the winner of the second stop in Glen Helen, California will miss out on the chance to defend his lead atop the standings. Frenchman Jeremy Rouanet also suffered injury in a training crash on Friday and will also miss the event, the most spectacular Red Bull X-Fighters showcase of the year.
Potter, who has 135 championship points and holds a 5-point lead over New Zealand's Levi Sherwood, finished a disappointing 10th in Qualifying on Thursday. He was suffering from a sore elbow he injured in two recent crashes. Rouanet, who was 11th in Qualifying and was looking forward to his first Red Bull X-Fighters event, dazzled the crowd with a daring new move in which he rotated like a skewer just inches above his seat while flying through the air. He named the move "Roulette".
With the departure of Potter and Rouanet, four riders -- Blake Williams, Mat Rebeaud, Thomas Pages and Wes Agee -- will now be battling in Round 1 for the final two tickets to the quarter-finals.
