About this Image: Instead of staying in hotels as most tourists do, we found ourselves staying just outside downtown Havana in a private house. Some Cubans, most likely due to connections with the government, are permitted to rent their homes out. The owner of our house was straight out of the movie Scarface, complete with a scar all the way down the left side of his face. A friendly guy for sure, yet you definitely got the feeling he’d seen a thing or two in his day - that and the fact that he was cool with us calling him Scarface. -Jody Morris
