- Gary set off at 6.40am on March 19 after some preparatory stretches. Later in the record attempt, Gary would suffer cramps in his legs from the sheer effort of staying balanced. “I almost fell eight times. In the first hour, I worked very hard and used all my energy. The weather was harsh… I had never trained in such conditions,” Gary commented later.
