The two times national surfing champion Titi de Col, Cristobal began surfing at age of three, taking on the waves at the family home in Organos, Peru. One of Cristobal’s earliest memories is watching his dad surfing three-metre-high tubes. Titi encouraged him, becoming his coach and mentor on the route to becoming one of the stars of the future.

In 2006, Cristobal won his first international title becoming the World Champion in the Sub-14 category in the Rip Curl Grom Search Championship in Bali, Indonesia. But although that was the first time he reached international attention, Cristobal was had already won several national titles, including Sub-12, Sub-14 and Sub-16 categories in 2005 and even the Sub-18 in 2006. He had even been a winner overseas after capturing the HASA in Hawaii in 2004.

Cristobal featured in the surf movie Young Guns III, filmed in Australia, and in 2008 he won the national championship at under-16 level, ending the season as “Grom of the Year”.

In 2009 he took part in two Red Bull high performance programmes: Red Bull Rising in Australia, and Red Bull Surfing in Mentawais, the last one, a high performance trip with 10 of the best surfers in the world, sharing 15 days in a boat with athletes like Mick Fanning, Adriano de Souza and Sofia Mulanovich, and an amazing experience, that he describes as the best of his life.
